Accreditation Restored

Full accreditation has been restored to the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Since 2005 the school was in jeopardy of losing its accreditation due to declining enrollment, financial and governance issues, as well as academic problems. At the same time, Victor Sidy was brought on as the dean of the school and he worked aggressively to fix the problems identified by the the HLC. Last month, the HLC announced that full accreditation has been restored.

The association’s letter announcing the change of status said in part: “The Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture has recently emerged from a period of considerable uncertainty within the institution. The new administrative leadership, working with faculty and staff, have revised the mission statement, has created a strategic plan for the school, reinstated or changed policies regarding educational programming where appropriate, taken the first steps in needed governance changes, and restored employee and student morale.”
