Notre Dame’s Architecture Library slide collection has been made available on Flickr — more than 2,700 photographs. The images are from a pre-WWI collection, and include buildings in Europe, Asia and Central and South America. No Wright (in fact, no US) but worth a look.

The ones from Greece are amazing, especially the photos of the Acropolis and Parthenon (here you can still see one of the Frankish towers). Look at this one — you can see where I used to live in background. And this one kinda freaks me out.

The world really needs a good history of architecture blog. One of you should get cracking on that.

Most of the information was collected between 1969 and 1970 in a successful bid to win listing on the National Register of HIstoric Places. The original architectural survey cards are part of the database.

A beautiful, and largely unaltered Greene & Greene home is on the market in Pasadena, California. The listing agent has a slide show of the interior (the photos can be seen on Flickr as well, in case the slide show makes your eyes go buggy).

The images are interesting, even if you don’t have $1.8 million, since this California expression of the Arts & Crafts ideals inspired by Japanese architecture is interestingly different from the Midwestern version by the Prairie School architects.

I’m a sucker for Usonians in the snow, so here is a group of nice pictures of the Dobkins House resting lightly on the Winter landscape.

I’m tempted to head over to Oberlin on sunday and take pictures of Weltzheimer-Johnson house.

A Los Angeles Times article on the tour put the attendance at 1,000, and mentions that the house, privately owned, is undergoing a restoration.
