A great photographer and Pedro is a one of the nicest people on the planet. I have stopped in to see him on a number of occasions at his home in Florence, AZ. He's generous with his time and always up for good conversation. Next time you are in Arizona I would encourage you to call...He's in the book.

I've thought about Ezra Stoller, but I don't know how established his career was when he first photographed Wright's work.

It occurred to me at one point that it would be really interesting if an exhibition could ever be put together of the photographers who got, or made, their careers photographing FLLW buildings; and what they thought of photographing these buildings. Guerrero, Edmund Teske, and the Hedrich brothers are the ones who came to mind. I would be interested to know what it is about Wright buildings that are interesting for photographers. Is it the light, the space, the fact that they are photographing "famous buildings"?

Just a thought.

Well, I'd be doing better if Congressional Democrats acted even slightly like Democrats -- or like decent human beings who gave a damn.

On the other hand, since my wife and I were reliable, annual contributors, it's nice that Pelosi has eliminated any desire to give money the Democratic Party; once I'm employed, we'll have a bit more money in the Frank Lloyd Wright travel fund.

But yes, Weltzheimer-Johnson is very nice, worth a side trip or a two hour drive.

Happy birthday!
Now that I know we can share politics too, you might want to do an entry on FLW's WWII letters to apprentices imprisoned as war objectors. Davy Davidson (our W-J draftsman) was in Federal Prison and FLW'S letters to John (Jack) Howe and him are bittersweet. FLW encourages them in such a comfortable, supportive way. Their birthday box drawings were "a knock-out"; and "...fine renderings- boys- by the whole damn two of yez". His rants (as mine) against the politicians and war are seared with the anger of energy wasted and talent unvalued. Some have read these letters hearing only FLW's personal ego needing "the fingers of his hand" back in the drafting room to help him but I hear the voice of the artist who believes in beauty and hardwork and knows the cultural shame of war. I hear my father, younger than FLW but of the same midwestern progressive stock.
